BBC Good Food Magazine

there’s a bit in this months BBC Good Food Magazine about the programme I presented for the Anglia region… Page 127 A Taste of History Host Piers Gibbon etc etc but unaccountably they have decided a photo of Rick Stein (he’s got a new series out apparently) would be better than one of mine!

Ayahuasca music

hmmm well i keep being told about people who’ve made various tracks out of the ayahuasca icaros on the soundtrack to Jungle Trip (see under the presenter section of this site)…and finally one of them has tracked me down….Gaudi got in touch via the web – he’s made some mad music out of the section of the film where i’m sitting there working out whether i should take the yachay – yachai – magical phlegm – millipede hearing it brings it all back…wooh

I will be speaking at a conference in Bath 2004

Bath Spa University Forum June 24-25, 2004. The Bath Spa University College’s Sophia Centre for the Study of Cultural Astronomy and Astrology, together with Psychonauts UK, will convene a forum to address and discuss the teleology of our conscious minds. How and why do we explore consciousness? In what states of mind can we look at our minds: the detached position of the scientific observer, the ecstatic state of the pagan enthusiast, the psychotropic condition of the inner traveller or through the enchanted eyes of the observer of the starry heavens? The venue will be The Forum in the City of Bath, England and will be a dialogue between cosmological, pharmac opoeial, academic and Gaian spiritual perspectives among others. What is the value of exploring beyond the ranges of ordinary experience, how can it apply to everyday life and how do we investigate its various potentials and possibilities? Speakers include: Rick Doblin -President of MAPS Francoise Barbira-Freedman -Cambridge anthropologist, ayahuasca, yoga Kelly Morris -writer, ex-senior editor for the Lancet, sexual health doctor Alexander Shulgin -Berkley chemist, creator of compounds, author Ann Shulgin -ex-psychedelic psychotherapist, author Julian Vayne -author of Pharmakon, practitioner of magical rituals, pagan Anja Saunders -author, experienced in rituals involving psychedelics Hattie Wells -ibogaine therapist, writer, activist Piers Gibbon -anthropologist, made documentary on ayahuasca Serena Roney-Dougal -psychosis & spiritual transformation, yoga, psychedelics Erik Daves Philippa Berry William Bloom Bernadette Brady Jude Currivan Stephen Fitzpatrick Liz Greene Susan Greenwood Robin Mathews Hilary Rose Stephen Rose Max Velmans Rob Hand For more information, contact Jon Atkinson at atkinsonjon@yahoo.co.uk

Free talk at The Big Green Gathering 2003

Saturday night at 8pm in the Spirit Zone of the Big Green Gathering….it’s called Sacred Sounds for Sacred Journeys and is all about using sound – overtones, singing and shamanic musical instruments – to keep you safe and sound when travelling through weird places…. Poster designed by nwoi@shaman-australis.com

Talk at The Big Chill 2003

I am taking a session in the BodySoul area of The Big Chill on Sunday at 2pm…its called Tune Up Your Voice and Head…like all the workshops it’s £5…for this you learn overtone singing…you get a free handcarved bamboo jew’s harp from the Phillipine hill tribes and a free plastic noseflute….what more could you want? The session is all about learning these techniques – which are trippy, stress busting and hilarious. Playing with these skills also inevitably increases the richness of your speaking voice…

TV presenting….

In August I am filming a new six part series for imago television. Its a six parter for Anglia tv (and they are angling to network it)…called Tasting History…exec is Julian Dismore who did all those Mark O Shea reptile horrorshows
